Lasersport tests Ronaldo in Snipers Alley

When Plum Pictures were setting the challenges for Cristiano Ronaldo for their new series of Tested to the Limit they wanted something different and unique to test his skills.

After seeing the Lasersport shooting system in action they contacted Lasersport International to discuss how a challenge could be set up using the company's equipment.

The SKY series Tested to the Limit sets out to test the skills of some our greatest footballers in different and difficult challenges linked in with a scientific study of their performance.

The many challenges facing Ronaldo included a head to head with an elite sprinter and a test of mental strength and agility as he took on the pitch-black cross ball challenge.

The ultimate test of his skill, reaction speed, endurance and strength was to outwit trained marksman and survive the most difficult challenge of all - 'Snipers Alley'.

For this, Lasersport International adapted their shooting system to provide the challenge.

The system has five guns and normally the players are shooting at clays with a reflective coating launched from a clay launcher, with the hits being shown both on the gun and the Laserport scoreboard.

The harmless infra red beam fired by the Lasersport gun spreads at a similar rate as ordinary lead shot.

The company's technical team adapted the reflective coating so that it could be applied to the football used by Ronaldo during the challenge, which was the target for five marksmen shooting as Ronaldo dribbled down snipers alley.

After extensive testing the Laserport guns and the footballs were taken for test with Plum Pictures, with presenter Andy Ansah trying out the challenge before taking it to Ronaldo.
